Nine Lives

by PAT DECLINE

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

After spending the last 10+ years releasing tunes in The Decline, Australia's answer to the 90's Californian skate-punk movement, Pat Decline has announced something he's been threatening to do for a while now - a debut solo acoustic record entitled Nine Lives.
Nine Lives contains nine stripped back, acoustic folk punk songs reminiscent of artists such has Jeff Rosenstock, Frank Turner, Dan P, Joe McMahon and Brendan Kelly, whilst not deviating too far from the songwriting style which The Decline have become known for.
Nine Lives features additional musicianship from members of Nerdlinger, Vetty Vials, Ess-Em & even Dave Berry or as they are all jokingly being referred to for this album "Pat Decline & The Cat Haven Volunteers"

The mining skyline’s the first thing that you see, construction sites say they’re not the enemy, and once a year they put up signs for their footy teams. Flying solo, just gliding over Greed, bright lights shining, lighting up the homeless streets, and once a year we all pick a favourite footy team The oceans just down the road, but I never make time to go - what the fuck’s wrong with me? Maybe in a couple days, but my youth’s slipping away right in front of me. Run away, we can ride the plastic seas, get lost together in psycho-social imagery. Or shed your skin, come on and kill the past with me, You can lose it, I see you carrying around, dragging your coffin, your dead weight, we’re all anchored to this town. The oceans just down the road, but I never make time to go - maybe in a couple days, but my youth’s slipping away The mining skyline’s the first thing that you see, construction sites, will say they’re not the enemy, we’re not the enemy. The mining skyline’s the first thing that you see - bright lights shining, lighting up the homeless streets, and the ocean’s just down the road, and I’m never gonna go.

Full of Hate 02:49
Welcome to the outside, you’re not as strong as you claim, I know you suffered for your story, but did you suffer for the fame? Occupying blank space, you were never meant to take, And if I laugh at all your failures, am I just full of hate? I’m walking away Did you worry when she didn’t come home? Maybe a flat tyre on the side of the road, There were some inconsistencies in the story? Should you worry? I don’t know Did you notice her turn away form cigarette smoke? And did you notice her blank face when you threw the first stone? If you go looking for trouble you might find it, Are you happy now that you know? I’m throwing up on the train, And you hide behind shelves and we both build a new name, Some inconsistencies in the story? Will you tell them, are you afraid? Welcome to the outside.
